Images that Make Learning Stick

Images displayed during teaching and lecturing should help understanding or learning in some productive way.  The display of images which are relevant but have no specific purpose can interfere with learners’ capacity to create their own meaningful connections and mental models.

Internet image searches often don’t produce images that are ‘task-appropriate’.  However video and images recorded using something as accessible as a Smartphone can often create something helpful and more recognisable to learners.
